Ethical Concerns

As the pre-eminent professional organization in orthotics and prosthetics, the mission of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists is to promote high standards of patient care through advocacy, education, and literature & research. In keeping with this mission and being that the Academy is the professional organization representing practitioners credentialed by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC), it is a primary objective of the Academy to support professional and ethical conduct among all ABC certified practitioners. The Academy fully supports the enforcement of the ABC Canons of Ethical Conduct and encourages the truthful reporting of unethical conduct to the Committee on Character and Fitness of ABC for the appropriate action.
