I would like to recognize the progress the NCOPE-accredited education programs have made in encouraging, requiring and guiding research efforts since they have made a difference in the quality of the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics (JPO). This month's lead article, "Dysvascular Amputees: What Can We Expect?," written by Sheryl P. Anderson, CP, as an O&P undergraduate, is an example of this progress. We need more research like Ms. Anderson's-research that demonstrates, supports and acknowledges outcomes-to be submitted to the JPO.
While the response to the JPO's Research, Technical and International Forums has been good, I also would like to see more submissions to the JPO's Case Study Forum. Case studies are a good way to show creativity, document treatment plans or approaches, and contribute information on outcomes as well.
I've also seen an incredible growth in the number of manuscripts submitted for publication in the JPO. Many of the submitting authors are from related professions, indicating that perhaps the JPO is gaining respectability outside the O&P profession. Please keep the manuscripts coming in!
Finally, I would like to congratulate the more than 150 readers who have successfully passed one or more of the JP0 quizzes and received their PCEs.
