The Premiere Technician Program - Technician Sessions
A full day of programming at the Academy's Annual Meeting just for TECHNICIANS

In addition to the 31 Technical Workshops presented on Wednesday, March 19, a full day of technician sessions is scheduled for Saturday.

Tony Wickman, RTPO of Freedom Fabrication, Inc. will present a one hour PowerPoint program on the design, manufacture, and finishing of a conventional metal short leg orthosis. This program was developed to give the technician insight into the commonly accepted protocol for the production of this device. Included will be a comprehensive overview of tracing delineation, metal bending technique, leatherwork, and shoe finishing.

Scott Tracewell of Fab-tech Systems will offer an hour-long PowerPoint presentation on the "one shot lamination" technique. This innovative process allows for fabricating shuttle lock mechanisms with a four hole European adapter in a single lamination. This technique produces a significant savings of both time and materials over the conventional two-step process.

Steve Hill, BOCO of O.T.S. Corp. will give a one-hour PowerPoint lecture on the theory and practice of heating with infra-red technology. As the principal producer of infrared-based laboratory ovens for the orthotic prosthetic field, Mr. Hill is uniquely qualified to interpret the complex scientific principles behind this technology. This informative program will cover both the underlying theory and the practical application of this technology.

Jeff Green RTPO of SPS, Inc. will be presenting two PowerPoint based presentations on prosthetic fabrication techniques. The first is a step-by-step process for fabricating a leather shoe in-shoe prosthesis. The second is a similar protocol for fabricating a leather knee disarticulation prosthesis. As a technician and second generation stitcher, Mr. Green offers excellent insights to vastly simplify these complex projects. Information on the design, materials, tools, and techniques will be given with great clarity.

Darin Vincent of S.C.O.P.E offers a one-hour PowerPoint program on the manufacture of the Symes prosthesis. Mr. Vincent will focus on the production of a simple cost-effective device for the Symes amputee. All aspects of the "S.C.O.P.E. method" will be reviewed including design considerations, materials, and fabrication methodologies.
