Formation of a Society

Societies have been formed in seven practice areas: CAD/CAM, Gait, Lower-Limb Orthotics, Lower-Limb Prosthetics, Spinal Orthotics, Upper-Limb Prosthetics, Fabrication Sciences, and Craniofacial.

In general, Societies are easy to form and are encouraged by the Academy. Any group of twenty or more Academy members may petition for the establishment of a Society. Each petition should include the printed names, addresses and signatures of the Academy members.

Such groups may be instituted to facilitate communication among research specialists and to increase the knowledge within those areas of interest.

To assist in the establishment of a Society, the Academy will carry a brief announcement in the Academy Today concerning the proposed Society. Relevant information should be sent to the Academy.
