The Student-Resident Committee of the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists was formed with the goal of helping students and residents learn more about the Orthotic and Prosthetic profession and the work of the Academy, their professional organization. They will be encouraged to contribute their skills and energy to advance the profession and the organization. One of the goals of the Committee is to help new clinicians better understand what it means to be part of a profession and to work within a professional organization. Involvement in this committee affords the student/resident an opportunity to share information on issues pertaining to health care, advancing the field of O&P, and facilitating and fostering professional connections and relationships.
The Student-Resident Committee is dedicated to meeting the needs of the student/resident entering the field of Orthotics and Prosthetics. The Student-Resident Committee provides opportunities for leadership and growth during the education process with the goal of enhancing knowledge of clinical applications, professional advocacy, mentoring opportunities, and other areas which will further the development of confident, knowledgeable practitioners.
The Student-Resident Committee is made up of a group of individuals at all career levels in the orthotic and prosthetic profession. All committee members are Academy members in good standing who desire to increase awareness and involvement of students and residents and have a positive impact in orthotics and prosthetics.
