Education Development Council

The Education Development Council (EDC) was established to develop and implement Academy continuing education programming to provide comprehensive education opportunities to the membership.

The EDC oversees all of the education initiatives of the Academy. The work is done through four committees; the Publications Committee, the Online Education Committee, the Scientific Societies Committee, and the Annual Meeting Clinical Content Committee.

2020 Annual Meeting Clinical Content Committee

Co-chair – Mark Holowka, MSPO, CPO, FAAOP

The Clinical Content Committee determines the education content for the Annual Meeting creating a well-rounded education program incorporating organized sessions, free papers, Thranhardt lectures, professional development sessions, and technician, mastectomy and pedorthic programming.

Online Education Committee

The Online Education Committee works to ensure that there is always a large selection of online education programming on the Paul E. Leimkuehler Online Learning Center (OLC). The committee focuses on building the content library of the OLC to ensure cost-effective, convenient education opportunities are available to O&P professionals.

Publications Committee

Chair – Sarah Thomas, CPO, FAAOP

The Publications Committee works to ensure that the publications offered by the Academy are many and varied addressing all levels of O&P practice. The committee assesses the publication needs for the Academy, recommends the priority of topics/projects, oversees the selection of authors, and ensures easy access to obtain the publications.

Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics

The mission of the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics is to promote, enhance and disseminate information pertinent to the science and practice of prosthetics and orthotics.
