Membership Categories
Professional Membership
The professional membership is open to individuals who are: (i) orthotists and/or prosthetists certified by a nationally recognized credentialing body based in the United States of America; and/or (ii) licensed to practice in orthotics and/or prosthetics in one or more states in the United States of America that require direct and/or indirect formal education from a CAAHEP Accredited Program.
Members in this category have full voting rights within the Academy.

Professional Membership (Newly Certified)
This option is available to newly certified clinicians during the first year of becoming certified. The Academy will pay 50% of your Academy dues based on the professional membership cost of $433.
The professional (newly certified) membership is open to individuals who meet the same eligibility requirements as professional members and also includes voting rights.

Associate Membership
The associate membership is open to individuals who are (i) certified by a nationally recognized credentialing body as orthotic/prosthetic assistants, technicians, pedorthists, and/or fitters; (ii) licensed in one or more states in the United States of America as orthotic/prosthetic assistants, technicians, pedorthists, and/or fitters; and/or (iii) registered by a nationally recognized credentialing body as orthotic/prosthetic assistants, technicians, pedorthists, and/or fitters.

Affiliate Membership
The affiliate membership is open to individuals whose professions are affiliated with the provision of orthotic and/or prosthetic care and who are not eligible for other Academy membership categories. This includes, without limitation: physicians, nurses, therapists, researchers, manufacturers, and engineers.

International Affiliate Membership
The international affiliate membership is open to individuals practicing or affiliated with orthotic and prosthetic care outside of the United States of America, including without limitation, international clinicians, physicians, nurses, therapists, researchers, and engineers.

Resident / Candidate Membership
The resident/candidate membership is open to individuals who have completed a CAAHEP-accredited program and are actively working toward certification as an orthotist and/or prosthetist.

Student Membership
The student membership is open to individuals currently enrolled in a CAAHEP-accredited program or other nationally recognized accredited degree program pursuing a career in orthotics and prosthetics.

Special Memberships
Emeritus
Emeritus membership is granted to those who have been an Academy member for at least ten years before the request and are no longer earning income as a practitioner. Eligible members must also be 65 or older OR prevented from working due to a medical diagnosis. Requests may be made in writing to the membership team at membership@oandp.org.
Honorary
The Academy may extend Honorary Membership to individuals in recognition of their contributions to the orthotics and/or prosthetics profession. This membership class is awarded at the discretion of the Academy Board of Directors.
