LLPS Case Study Webinar

A Case-Based Preview of the 2027 Annual Meeting Organized Session

Real Case, Real Decisions: Managing Socket Fit Through Obesity, Rapid Weight Loss, and GLP-1 Therapy.

About the Session

Session Description

Presented by the Lower Limb Prosthetic Society ahead of its 2027 Annual Meeting Organized Session, this webinar centers on a single challenging case to unpack the clinical complexity of fitting and managing patients experiencing obesity or rapid weight loss, including those on GLP-1 receptor agonist therapies. Attendees will work through the case in real time, examining how fluctuations in volume, skin integrity, and component demands complicate socket design and long-term care planning. The case study format previews the deeper clinical and interdisciplinary framework that will be presented in full at the in-person Organized Session, giving attendees a head start on the concepts, terminology, and decision points they'll see explored in greater depth next year.

Learning Objectives

  1. Deconstruct the featured case to pinpoint the specific decision points where rapid weight change and GLP-1 therapy pushed residual limb volume, socket fit, and component tolerances to their limits.
  2. Evaluate the case clinician's management choices around volume fluctuation and skin integrity risk, weighing what worked, what didn't, and what the expanded 2027 Organized Session will cover in greater depth.
  3. Identify the moments in the case where interdisciplinary referral or follow-up changed the trajectory of patient safety, prosthetic fit, and long-term mobility outcomes.
