Academy Announces New Pediatric Scientific Society
A newly launched scientific society offers Academy members interested in pediatric orthotic and prosthetic care the opportunity to collaborate, share expertise, and advance patient care.
The Academy is proud to announce the launch of the Pediatric Scientific Society in response to strong member interest. David Patterson, CO, LO, will serve as the society’s inaugural chair.
“The launch of the Pediatric Scientific Society reflects the Academy’s continued commitment to supporting specialized areas of practice and creating opportunities for members to connect around shared clinical interests,” said Academy President Gerald Stark, PhD, MSEM, CPO, LPO, FAAOP(D).
The Academy's Pediatric Scientific Society Mission:
To advance clinical care for infants, children, and adolescents with orthotic and prosthetic needs by investigating, educating, and cultivating best practices through research, publications, and educational events. The Society fosters interdisciplinary collaboration to accelerate safe, effective, and patient-centered outcomes for pediatric patients and their families.
“Pediatric care requires not only clinical expertise, but also collaboration, innovation, and a deep commitment to improving outcomes throughout a child’s life,” said Patterson. “This society will provide a dedicated space for professionals who are passionate about pediatric care to learn from one another, share best practices, and help shape the future of pediatric orthotic and prosthetic care.”
The Pediatric Scientific Society will hold its inaugural meeting on Tuesday, June 16, from 12:00–1:00 PM ET. Academy members interested in pediatric orthotic and prosthetic care are encouraged to participate.
Participation in the Academy’s Scientific Societies is an exclusive benefit of Academy membership.
