Microlearning: Glide "Direct Control" Myoelectric System in Transradial Prosthesis (ML2025-08)
(0.25 Scientific Credits) This microlearning module is based on the Academy’s 2025 Annual Meeting research poster “Patient Reported Functionality of Glide ‘Direct Control’ Myoelectric System in a Transradial Prosthesis.”
We will explore how the Glide directional-control myoelectric system performs in a real-world clinical case involving an experienced, active transradial prosthesis user. Through this case, the module highlights how longitudinal electrode placement, vector-based signal interpretation, and individualized gain adjustments influence device control, functional performance, and user satisfaction. Clinicians will gain a clearer understanding of how Glide differs from conventional two-site control and pattern recognition and how emerging control strategies may support improved reliability, intuitiveness, and functional outcomes for multi-grasp terminal devices.
In this bite-size module, you’ll watch a short presentation from the study authors, review the full poster, and apply the findings in a clinical scenario and knowledge check in approximately 15 minutes.
