This July, the Academy is proud to support the 28x28 Mobility Challenge once again, benefiting So Every BODY Can Move (SEBCM), a national disability rights and healthcare justice initiative working to expand access to O&P care for physical activity and wellbeing.
Last year, more than 1,300 participants joined the movement to raise awareness and critical funding in support of legislative efforts to improve access to life-changing O&P care nationwide. Let’s build on that momentum!

How might early access to microprocessor knees influence return-to-work outcomes after transfemoral amputation? This study, authored in part by Academy members Emily Steffensen, Beretta Fylstra, and Shane R. Wurdeman, found that individuals living in distressed communities who received a microprocessor knee within the first year post-amputation had greater odds of being employed compared to those who received a non-microprocessor knee, highlighting the potential impact of prosthetic technology on vocational outcomes.
