Medicare L-Code Updates

Significant changes have been made across the board, including several that directly impact upper extremity prosthetic coding. To help you prepare, the Academy’s Public Policy Committee has created a centralized resource page that includes:

• A concise chart outlining all new and revised codes, descriptions, fees, and activation dates

• A downloadable PDF version of the chart that you can easily share with your billing and contracting teams

All codes listed are now active in the CMS fee schedule according to the dates noted in the final column. Preliminary payment determinations for codes without prior decisions were released on November 18, 2025. CMS will hold its public meeting for comments on December 17–18, 2025.

Important: Please ensure your contracts are updated to reflect new codes and revised language.
