Journal Club: Development of Hand Skills Testing Methodology for O&P Curriculum (JC-112025)
(0.75 Scientific Credits) This microlearning introduces the development of an objective Hand Skills Test (HST) designed to assess key technical competencies in orthotics and prosthetics education. Based on Roach & Sherman’s (2025) work, the module reviews how hand skills—such as riveting, flaring, foam skiving, and plastic polishing—were evaluated, refined, and validated within a graduate O&P curriculum. Learners will explore the rationale for structured hand-skill assessment, the methodology behind rubric development, and the importance of interrater reliability in evaluating psychomotor learning.
